Norway’s BORKNAGAR have finally begun work on their follow-up to 2004’s Epic album. Guitarist and mainman Øystein G. Brun posted the following message on the band’s official website:
“Hello folks! I have just returned from Grindvoll where Børge’s studio is located. As you may suspect, the production of our next album has started. In good BORKNAGAR-spirit we will record it sporadically, but we plan to finish the recordings this autumn. Without making any solid promises we plan to release the album early next year. The album, yet-untitled, will be an acoustic based effort, but we can assure you that it will be a 100% BORKNAGAR--with a twist, mind you. We’ll keep you posted….
“Believe it or not: Borknagar is doing one gig this year. The date is the 30th of September (we’d better start rehearsing…) and the whole thing is going down at Rockefeller, Oslo. This gig will be done with the Empiricism line-up, and we are all looking forward to the event!
In other news, there is a lot of non-BORKNAGAR-related musical activity in the BORKNAGAR-camp these days. [Keyboardist] Lars has just finished the new SOLEFAD albums, Red for Fire and Black for Death, which will be released in two separate parts through Season of Mist. (I am exited to see how Norse/Viking mythology looks through urban lenses….hehe..!) [Drummer] Asgeir and his million projects are doing well (you’d better be watching that blood pressure, Asgeir!), check out the new SCARIOT album whenever it comes out! Mr. V [vocalist, VINTERSORT] has a new album in the works with his progband WATERFIELD, and the musical hybrid CRONIAN (me and Mr. V) will have an album ready by the end of this year. So it’s time for all of us to stay focused….if possible…”
