DISSECTION singer/guitarist, Jon Nödtveidt, revealed that the band will cease to exist following a small handful of performances supporting their recently released new album, Reinkaos.
“I have reached the limitations of music as a tool for expressing what I want to express, for myself and the handful of others that I care about, and I will now move along to other realms of practice,” expressed Nödtveidt via their “Interview by the Fans for the Fans”. “We now have decided that this is the time to move on and where Dissection no longer will be an active band,” he added.
The band’s final European show, dubbed Midsummer Massacre ‘06, will take place at Hovet in Stockholm, Sweden on Saturday, June 24th. The performance will be filmed and recorded for a “massive DVD production” and live album. The band will play a handful of “final” shows in other countries, including America, before the band official splits.
Meanwhile, the band will be issuing a DVD entitled, Rebirth of Dissection, on August 1st via Escapi Music (July 28th in Europe). The DVD recounts the band’s reformation following Nödtveidt’s release from an eight-year prison sentence and their subsequent Rebirth of Disssection European Tour 2004. The DVD will include extras and bonus material recorded from this tour.
Also, on June 27th, 2006 The End Records will put out the ultimate reissues of both The Somberlain and Storm of the Light’s Bane, both will come with multiple bonus tracks, previously unreleased material, new layouts and remastering.
Also, all three DISSECTION albums will be released on gatefold vinyl this summer too. They will be available in Europe at the Midsummer Massacre ‘06 show and in North America on June 27th, 2006.
