Rockabilly-influenced Danish metal band VOLBEAT will be releasing their second album, Guitar Gangsters & Cadillac Blood, on March 17th through Mascot Records. The album follows their successful 2008 release, Rock The Rebel/Metal The Devil.
The title Guitar Gangsters & Cadillac Blood refers to a story that connects seven of the thirteen (official) songs on the album: “Guitar Gangsters & Cadillac Blood”, “Find That Soul”, “Maybellene I Hofteholder”, “Still Counting”, “Back To Prom”, “Light A Way” and “A Broken Man And The Dawn”. It’s a tale about a travelling band whose leader is a man that once got shot in the desert and left for dead. During the bands tour he went on a mission to find the mysterious killer that put seven bullets in his body. While travelling from city to city the band ends up in a small town called Ten House City performing for just a handful of people in the local bar. The songs offer observations of the people in the rundown venue, made by the bandleader. This storyline will continue to be a connecting theme and developed asVOLBEAT writes future albums.
Singer/guitarist Michael Poulsen comments: “It’s one of our goals to improve every time. That’s the main reason of our existence. Every tour had to be better than the previous one. We also want every album to be better than the one before. We wanted to improve on the song writing with Guitar Gangsters & Cadillac Blood. I think we succeeded.”
VOLBEAT is rounded out by guitarist Thomas Bredahl, bassist Anders Kjølholm and drummer Jon Larsen.
