CENTINEX may not be as household a name as AT THE GATES but they’ve been a part of the Swedish underground scene for almost just as long. They specialize in the patented Swedish death/thrash sound that took the underground metal scene by storm in the mid-90’s. Judging by the sound of Decadence…, the band doesn’t give a fuck whether it’s 1994 or 2004. The album has everything that you would expect; in-your-face aggression, melody, scorching guitar solos and plenty of tasty “Swedish” riffs. If you’ve never heard Swedish death/thrash, then you’ll probably lose your mind to this record. On the other hand, if you’re a seasoned fan, you’ll probably feel like you’re listening to a rerun. That is not to say that CENTINEX have written anything mediocre. Decadence… is a good record, one that easily destroys most of bands trying to get a piece of the Swedish action.
