Specializing in gore-inspired deathgrind, London’s appropriately named GOREROTTED offer nearly half an hour of tight, catchy death metal in the vein of CANNIBAL CORPSE, DEICIDE, and MACABRE with some REPULSION thrown in for good measure. Although it might be easy to dismiss the band for their somewhat derivative musical approach not to mention their silly lyrics, it’s obvious that band members with names such as Fluffy Offalstench, Robin Pants and Babysliced don’t take themselves too seriously. This is something that tends to be missing in the often overly serious “I’m-so-tough and brutal” world of death metal resulting in what could be termed as “fun” death metal, provided you have a good sense of humor about mutilation, decapitation, blood, and murder. With that said, the band deliver nine tracks of punishing, over-the-top gore grind with a fair amount of floor-punching, hardcore breakdowns. Fans who enjoyed the work of the authors of “Severed, Sawn and Sold as Porn” (from Mutilated in Minutes) will no doubt rejoice in the band’s all new hit singles such as “Hacked in the Back Dumped in a Sack,” “Her Gash I Did Slash” and of course, “Fuck Your Arse With Broken Glass.” (Metal Blade Records)
